Make A Birthday Card Or A Card For Any Occassion
Make a birthday card or a card for any occassion by recycling used greeting cards! Recycled crafts are all the rage these days. This is an easy crafts for kids, the elderly and everyone inbetween! Simple crafts are the kind we like around here!
Everytime you give a gift, you need a card or a gift tag. Sometimes we give cards because we are thinking of someone, to lift their spirits, congratulate them, encourage them, to help them get well or feel better...the reasons are endless! Cards can cost several dollars each. Some people keep cards given to them and others just throw them out.
To make a birthday card (or any occassion card), first collect cards that people don't want anymore. Recycle them into new cards. They don't cost any money to make and people love to receive them and you will have fun making them!
What You Will Need:
Regular scissors
Decorative scissors
Old greeting cards
Craft glue
Decorative string
A hole punch
Colored cardstock paper
A stamp that says To:_________ From:_________
Gather used greeting cards. Don't be shy about cutting them apart! If you have a nice picture on the front of a card, cut the front of the card off. Use this as your starting point to make a new card.
If you like the saying on the inside of the card, cut it out. Do not use any part of the card that has personal writting on it.
We used a stamp that says, To_____________ From____________
(If you don't have a stamp, you may write this on your cards.)
Stamp the card so that it will be easy to address who the card is going to.
Feel free to use scrapbooking paper or construction paper to cover up parts of an old card. Use a decorative scissors to give your new card a unique look. Use a craft glue to glue paper and cut-out words to make your new card.
On several of our cards we glued a pretty picture onto the cardstock paper. We used decorative scissors on the cardstock paper. The cardstock paper is slightly bigger than the picture we glued onto it. Stamp the back of the card with your To______ From_______ stamp. Feel free to glue on other nice cut-outs on the backside of the card.
Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the upper left hand corner of your new card. Use a pretty, colorful string to attach your new card to a present or package. You can cut you string any length you want. (We cut our string 8-10 inches long) Take your string and tie it through the punched hole.
Make up dozens of cards at a time and have them ready for when you need them. Grab your supplies and make a birthday card, Mothers Day card or a Fathers Day card. Don't forget Valentines Day, Christmas and every other holiday!
These make wonderful gift tags for putting on Christmas packages under the tree!
