How To Make A Kids Tray

Learn how to make this easy kids tray. They make great gifts or kids can make them. They are great to use while traveling, lying in bed, use in the car or around the house. These lap tables sell very well at boutiques and craft fairs. This is a very practical gift and kids of all ages love them.

Supplies Needed

One lap tray
Paint brushes
Acrylic Paints
Stencils
A Pencil
Tape
Clear contact paper or a liquid craft sealer

You may buy a plain plastic tray at most craft stores. They come in a variety of cool colors. Pick a stencil that has a design that you like. Tape the stencil on the top on the tray in the place that you would like the design to be. Next, use your paint brush to apply the paint onto your stencil.

Once you have painted the stencil, carefully remove the stencil from the tray. You may use as many stencils as you would like to complete the personal design onto the tray. You may paint the entire top of the tray or just put a few designs on, the choice is yours.

Once the paint is dry, cover the entire top of the tray with clear contact paper. This will allow the tray to be wiped clean without the stenciled design being removed. (You may choose to paint on a clear coat of a liquid craft sealer if you like. We prefer the clear contact paper)

If you are one who is great at drawing free handed, you may draw and then paint your design instead of using a stencil. These trays are really cute if you personalize them with the name of the child who is getting one.
