Beaded Hair Clips

These beaded hair clips are easy to make and they look terrific in your hair! You choose the design and colors so that it gives you a one of a kind personal hair accessory.

Supplies Needed

Hair clip that has a hole in the center
Thin flexible wire (we use flex-rite #49 bead wire)
A good variety of small beads
Crimp beads
Pliers
Wire cutters

Instructions To Make The Beaded Hair Clips

To start, take one hair clip that has an hole in the front middle. Measure out the amount of wire that you want. Do this by figuring out how long you want the beads to hang from the hair clip, double that amount of wire and add an inch more of wire.

String one end of the wire through the hole on your hair clip. Make sure that the clip is in the middle of the wire so that both sides of the clip have the same amount of wire hanging down.

Start stringing on the beads. Feel free to spend as much time as you need sorting out a good pattern that you like. You can do any kind of pattern that you wish. The very first bead that you string needs to have both wires go through it.

After the first bead is on, spread the two wires apart. String beads on both of the wires. Keep the pattern on each wire the same. Now is the time to be creative and come up with fashionable designs that you will enjoy. You can use a variety of colors, or stick with a pattern. Use all kinds of different shapes and colors to make your hair clips stand out.

After you have created a unique pattern of beads that you like, leave the last one each of wire without beads. Add one crimp bead to each end of the two wires. Bring the end of the wire up and around the crimp bead, going back upwards through that last 3-5 beads.

Make sure that all of the beads on both wires are really tight and that they do not slide up and down the wire. When all of the beads are securely tight, take your pliers and squeeze the crimp bead as tight as you can, while still holding the string of beads tight and secure. Next, take your wire cutters and cut off the excess wire that is coming up through the beads.

You will end up with two beaded strings that are hanging down from your hair clip. Usually, you would make two matching hair clips...one for each side of your hair. You can wear these beaded hair clips on top of your hair, like a normal clip, or you can wear it underneath you hair. When you hide the clip, it looks like you are wearing long beaded earrings.

These decorated hair clips make great gifts to give a friend or as a present. These are easy, fun, creative and unique crafts for young girls and teenagers.
